Skylar Cheung is an undergraduate studying political science at the University of Toronto. She turns to visual arts when words fail to articulate her ideas. The arrangement of shapes, textures, and colors, when well-thought and executed, can bear such power in conveying rhetoric without language. It is this belief that drives her to explore the annals of pop art to manipulate past styles to echo present sentiments she feels are deserving of attention. Her mediums include punch needle embroidery, watercolor, and oil paints. Skylar’s work has appeared in public spaces such as Caffeinds (Victoria College’s student-run cafe), and the Forestview Retirement Residence.
